A guy can dream, can't he? I've been thinking about having an A-Scale neck made for my Ramsey fretless. I could swap back and forth, and if needed, build a new pot for the 2nd neck. Check this out (click on the picture to see the full image in a new window).
This is a sketch I made of my idea for a slotted peghead inspired by an 1859 Ashborn design and a 1906 Martin O-28. I really like it. The 5th string would be really cool, too.
The idea would be to have an alternate 24" scale neck for my 2nd banjo. When I get around to it, I could make a pot for it. I've been talking with a fellow BHO-member named Roy about building it. Big fun!
Waverly makes some super-cool tuners that would look great on this slothead. They're $140 for a set of 6, even though we'd only be using 5.
Here's a snap of the 1859 Ashborn.
And a view of the Martin peghead.
And finally, the cool Waverly tuners that I could use.
