Wild for Wildwood since 1983

Posted by PeterMaier on Saturday, November 24, 2012

I bought an Heirloom in the early 80s after seeing Tommy Thompson play a different model. Mark Platin agreed to to use the inlays from the open backed Paragon on my instrument. He also thinned the fretboard very slightlyto make it a little faster.

Its been a great pleasure. Playable, loud, balanced, very pretty. And, its just as good for Clawhammer as it is for bluegrass.

I don't understand the devotion to Deerings and other fine high end instruments quite as well as I might. I'm biased, but I think the Wildwoods are as good as anything being built now.
