You may recall that a few months ago, someone posted on here that they were looking for a bluegrass band on Okinawa. I answered the post, as I jam with the only bluegrass band on Okinawa, "The Sometime Bluegrass Band". Me answering that post has led to a gig on Kadena Air Base for the Sometime Bluegrass Band today at their Fall Festival. They are expecting over two thousand people. I'm not playing with them today, but I am really looking forward to the festival and seeing the crowd reaction to some really good bluegrass played by some talented Japanese musicians.

Gosh Jay, that is awesome, I really miss my time on Okinawa. Sure would like to return for a visit. Are you playing some gigs with them. I know with Al your playing has to be very good. Keep us posted. What is the yen exchange rate there these days. I heard it was really low for quite a while now. Best of luck in your banjo journey.

Garman, thanks a lot! The gig went great yesterday. I have been jamming with these guys, but no playing gigs with them. For this one yesterday they brought in a banjo player from Tokyo, and the regular banjo player watched from the sidelines. The yen rate here is about 79, which means that it's pretty darn expensive, but a great place to be. Thanks again!

I'll bet the crowd reaction will be priceless, especially if you wear your kilt! Enjoy Jay! I have never been to Okinawa. I spent 3 weeks in Nagoya when I worked for INTAT, sister company of Aisin Seiki.

Crap, when I was there in the mid 80's yen rate was at least 250 to the dollar. It really has gotten expensive.
