I purchased an RK-75 Elite from a fellow BHO member out of the classified listings. It came Friday (well actually Thursday, but no one was home) and I must say thank you to Larry for conducting the sale on nothing more than a handshake. Due to the Columbus Day holiday, there was no mail for me to send the check (or even go to the bank for funds) yet he had it boxed and shipped that very day. It was as he described, with case, strap, mute and capo. So I positioned the bridge (wrongly as I found out later) and began to play. But it really didn't come together till I took it out to Mack's, an owner of an RK-75 Elite who I had the pleasure of visiting my previous entry.
Mack spent well over an hour with me, going over my new acquisition from peg head to tailpiece. (Mack was the one that told me I had the bridge oriented the opposite way!) He checked head tension, action, bridge position, told me what the markings on it meant, harmonics, how the strings lined up in the tail piece, looked at how the tone ring fit to the rim, and the neck to the rim, coordinator rods - everything! He even fitted it with a 5/8" Scorpion bridge like he had on the Savannah he had so graciously loaned me from before. This last item brought the action up just the right amount. I am very happy with my banjo! Thank you Mack for setting it up!
