To answer many banjo player's question, "Do you play with the banjo player Bill Evans?" NO! I love Bill's banjo playing, and I've even taught alongside him at Midwest Banjo Camp, but I play for one of Miles Davis' Bill Evans. I play for the tenor saxophonist! lol
We are about to embark on a huge fall tour. I am always excited about these tours of Europe. I actually make more nods to Earl Scruggs and Bluegrass music when I play overseas, mainly because many of the audiences have never heard a banjo playing bluegrass music. Many europeans have heard Dixieland Jazz, however most of them are strangers to Bluegrass music. I make it a point to interject plenty of rolls and string bends into Bill's music when we play far from home. It keeps me from getting homesick :)
