I have decided to revise my approach to learning the banjo some and it will mean that I am not spending as much time on the hangout as I have in the past. I am focusing on going back to the basics. By this I mean I am going to spend time learning the neck, the chords, the licks and then I am going to put them together while I learn to chop and roll through the chords. Many of you have offered me help and support and I want to continue that for sure, so drop me a private message or email if you have something to offer or if I can help you in anyway.
I hope to get about 5 more hours per week practice time from this decision and with that I hope to see some improvement in my performance. I wanted to make sure that you all know that I may miss some of your contributions, but I will catch up on Sunday evenings and show my support for your work. That is the day I plan to enjoy the Hangout and spend time with my friends and that is important to me also.

Cool Donnie, I understand 100%. You ever notice that I am in the chatroom and alway away, well thats because I am praticing and its hard to pratice when I am yapping all the time. Good luck and we will see you on Sundays.

So you're going to spend more time picking and less time typing? That's hard to argue with! I guess I'll just post tunes on Sundays now ;>)

A great decision, you need to get those things firmly in place and you cant help but come on leaps and bounds because of it. Anyway, being alone with your banjo and studying hard is a great place to be, so rewarding. Good luck with it all, if you need anything, well just ask Donnie.

I know where your coming from Donnie. Been spending less and less time on the hangout myself, it's great to hear what others are doing and catch up with news etc but before you know it an hour or two has passed and you haven't picked a note!! It's obvious by your recent posts that your practice is paying off big time so keep doing what your doing :)

Sounds like a good plan Donnie. Get to practicing but post some vids to let us keep up with your progress. Good luck to you.

That's the way to do it Donnie. Get back to the basics and just enjoy your banjo. We've noticed the improvements and we all appreciate your encouragement as well. My Sundays are reserved for family dinner but I'll be looking out for any post you may be sharing in the future. Happy pickin'

Your decision is pretty interesting. I have found myself spending more time as a spectator rather than a participant. I was wondering, Donnie, how much TOTAL practicing time are you hoping to get per week?

Well thought out Donnie... a solid road to steady improvement... and more enjoyment.
You are smart to get that foundation laid... and though we'll miss ya' a bit... knowing yer pickin' more will make amends.
Best t'ya... and be lookin' fer ya... Down The Road.
