Criticism.

Posted by derekanjo on Monday, June 25, 2007

A recent post on this site (I won't be specific) has led me to post this blog. A player posed a question, got responses to his post , and then mentioned that he came to this site looking for help but wondered if there is anything but criticism (paraphrasing). I read the posts...heck, I even posted myself. There was nothing that critical there. And it seems to me that if you can't handle even a little criticism, then you probably shouldn't bring you questions ad/or problems to a "public" forum of this nature. And if you do, i leave you with something my high school art teacher (one of the smartest and most effective teachers ever) told every class on the first day.: "If you can't handle my criticism get out of my class. I'm not your mommy, so grow a skin." Just so know, no one ever left.

Criticism, if honest and said honestly with no bad intentions, asked for and received in the same spirit, is one of the best ways to learn and become better. Good thoughts, Derek, and your art teacher was right.

A most excellent response about (constructive) criticis, Derek!!!  I wish more people knew and lived that in their daily lives.
