my friends and i cant get together to practice so we want to record ourselves playing banjo, guitar and singing but dont have alot of money. does anyone know of a good affordable computer programm for doing this?

Have you looked into Audacity? It is a free program for Windows, Mac and Linux. I haven't used it to record myself (maybe when I get a little better : ), but it also has the capability to slow down tempo without changing the pitch.
