I really do have more than 1 friend, but appreciate Mr Jones signing on. I have been self-learning on the Banjo pickin' ,Scruggs style , but now I'm having more fun "Frailin'" style !
I was told once as a child that "I couldn"t carry a tune in a bucket" That stifled me for many years so ENCOURAGE children on your journey thru life!
I now play guitar ( and a little Banjo) Sing and write songs, so that genius who belittled me was wrong! Havin' fun in my "Golden years " BUT--where's the gold???

Bilmor, amen to encouragement. There's no success if we don't try. I may never be a virtuoso, but I'm having a heck of a lot of fun along the way.

Hey Bilmor - the way it works with me is that I get my grandkids (girls of six and eight) to teach me what they're learning on recorders at school. They're very encouraging! The six year old is now starting on ukelele (and piano after the long school summer holiday) and the eight year old (already making up her own songs on piano as well as doing her exams!) starts clarinet in the autumn. The future is theirs - but I want a little bit of it as well! Keep having fun!

Amazing how many of those "geniuses" don't know what they are talking about. Congratulations on beating them!!
