Here's the 3 new ones I mentioned - Landis Ridge, The Metaphysical March, and Hull's Wrinkle. Like I suspected, they are horse mixes (rough to the max) - Mary went shopping and wasn't there to supervise Leo and I. Her guitar and Dick's mandolin are too low, and I might be too loud, but the session was most excellent in terms of giggles and snickers. Leo and I had more fun than I've had in some time. There's also a difference in how a mix will sound on a high power thunder system (like Leo's) and the car stereo and the home stereo and the computer. For heaven's sake, I graduated from classical piano to rock and roll drums to country/bluegrass guitar to banjo to Dojo. What would I know about beans from applesauce when it comes to taste and properness..?
I do feel blessed to have made some music with these folks though. Blind luck and ignorance will sometimes win out over youth and skill. This is such fun...! Life is good, huh..?
Saturday morning P.S. addition....
A few words about the additional players on the three new songs.
Go to
www.banjoy.com and check out Bob Black. He is one of the greats at fiddle tunes on banjo. His LP from the 70's called Ladies on the Steamboat is a true masterpiece - riddled with superstars. It's out now on CD with 5 extra cuts on it of Bill Monroe and the BG Boys in Japan when Bob played with him. Like no one else I've ever played with, when Bob digs in, get a good grip - Bob's driving..!
Dick Nunneley is a monster local guitar and mandolin man. He gave us a copy of the 'new' release - Holstein Lust-The Midwestern Tours, a while back. Whoa...! It's a collection of live cuts from the Mando Boys a number of years back. They were (still are, I guess) Dick and Peter Ostroushko, Joe Trimbach, and John Neimann on collective mando units of various sizes and colors. Also fiddles and guitars on occasion. Goggle Mando boys and explore from there. Peter can be reached at
www.peterostroushko.com. I think he would figure out a way for you to get a copy. I can also probably get them to you if need be.

Hi, Geoff...
Hmmm. Classical piano to rock drummer to guitar, to banjo to Dojo. Just sounds like you're getting smarter as you age to me.
