Cumberland Gap

Posted by bobbiloughlin on Thursday, June 14, 2012

am currently working on this song, playing along with the Murphy Method DVD, making slow progress. I can tell that the up the neck part is going to be the toughest part to master. I had started learning this song a few years ago, but it's been a while so I'm refreshing my memory & am determined to conquer the difficult parts.

Bobbi - As you must already know - just keep on pickin'

It will come with time and lots and lots and lots of repetition. The high part to the solo is important and was a good choice for Murphy to include in her early on DVD's - it's used in a lot of songs, and is a very useful lick to know. We have all struggled through learning it.

Hope your summer is going well with all the kids - it is great to see you involving them.

Thanks Wayne. the hardest part for me is where you have to hammer on with the pinky finger, but it's coming slowly. so far my summer is going good. Just have 1 child & she's almost 4. she loves music and is fascinated by the different instruments.

Yea - the pinkie . Fortunately I played a lot of guitar before taking up the banjo so I had a head start on that.

I have two daughters about your age with five grand kids. They are all precious, but not interested in the banjo.

Have a nice day. Wayne
