Well folks it's time for another southern bluegrass highlight. today's consideration is a Mississippi native; Carl Jackson. Carl was born in Louisville, MS and is quite the bluegrass banjo player.
Before the writing of today's blog I didn't even know that I have long enjoyed some of Carl's writing as belted out by some pretty good musicians! By pretty I mean the likes of Allison Krauss, Terri Clark, Rhonda Vincent and Alecia Nugent!
I am including the Wiki link referenced above and a lightning fast version of Foggy Mountain Breakdown via YouTube.
Here's one of my favorites, Lonesome Dove. Jackson's "Lonesome Dove" was recorded by co-writer Larry Cordle and Lonesome Standard Time, Ricky Skaggs, Trisha Yearwood, and Tim Hensley, in addition to his own rendition on the album with John Starling. (thanks youtube...)
Finally, a great link from the Augusta Heritage Center of Davis and Elkins College about some of Carl's accomplishments.
