Big Apple Bluegrass: Fresh Baked at Nolita!

Posted by myork1 on Monday, May 14, 2012

Working in Jersey this week so I trained up to see my daughter in her NEW CITY: New York, New York.

She loves banjo/bluegrass almost as much as Dad and had already scoped out a breakfast place that would fill the bill. BRUNCH AND BLUEGRASS at Nolita House (almost SOHO but NORTH of Little Italy) was the highlight of our weekend. I met Doug Owen Hatt of FRESH BAKED BLUEGRASS who plays there every Sat. and Sun. Along with Bennett who turned out to be from NC. One thing led to another and on the next set I was playing banjo right there in NYC! Just another thing I love about banjo'ers and bluegrassers...how music and our passion for it connects us all. In just over an hour I had made some great friends and played some fun music a long way from home.

Thanks to Doug, Bennett, Jason (upright bass-master) and Rob for some big-banjo-fun on a Sunday morning in the big city.
