One day left for packing and preparing for the 25th annual Merle Festival. Should be a big event this year. There is a great line-up of acts you don't want to miss. Our band is doing an outreach Thurs. morning at one of the local elementary schools then it is off to set up the open mic. stage at the festival. The Local Boys will kick off the festival at the open mic stage with a performance. Come on out and sign up to play on the open mic stage with The Local Boys and Tutt Taylor. Also Friday afternoon The Local Boys will be performing on the Cabin stage next to the Main Stage. Come out and watch the show. looking forward to meeting and seeing all my banjo hangout buddies. I will also be doing some shows with a singer songwriter at the open stage at various times through out the week.

I don't remember seeing the open mic stage last year. Is that by the jam tents? Is it going on Friday and Saturday?

It is below the Hillside Stage on the way toward the jam tents. There is a building next to the stage where they do the song writers contest thing with Jim Lauderdale and some other judges. You can find it on the map in the programs they hand out at the festival. The stage is going on from Thursday till Sunday afternoon 9am til 7pm and 10am til 3pm Sunday if I'm not mistaken. You can check it out on the website also.
