I have two brother cats, Waylon and Willie. Willie is the fat lazy one who is surprisingly fast when he decides he wants to catch a bird. Waylon is quick and funny, and is 100% a banjo cat. Maybe he was a banjo picker in another lifetime? Heck, I don't necessarily believe that, but I have no answer for why this little guy can't wait for me to play the banjo every day.
When I first picked it up a few weeks ago, he would try to chew the strings and rub his head on my left hand when I was playing! It was annoying, but I'm weak and give in a little bit and rub his head. Sometimes I ignore it and keep playing.
He always sits next to me. Sometimes he sits staring out the window, listening. Other times he sits right in front of the head watching my fingers move. His ears twitch like satellites while he takes in every note. I've started leaning over to scratch his head with my fingerpicks and thumbpicks, and it makes him crazy. He'll paw at my hands sometimes while I'm playing and make me scratch his head. It doesn't happen often, but I give in and do it because I'm a sucker.
Do any of you have pets that love to hear you play the banjo? Do they love a big ol' scratch on the head with the fingerpicks and thumbpick?
