I am dangerously close to subcumbing to BAS again. Anyone have advice?

Here are some questions to ask before you do it...
Is it expensive?
Is it a necessary purchase?
Do you REALLY want the banjo?
Is there a place to put it?
Do you REALLY, REALLY want it?
Jay, I really don't have any advice for you since I'm not in your shoes. I was just barely able to afford the banjo that I do have and I have a lot more learning to do before I jump off that cliff. Since the last time I looked at your page you have really increased your collection, I'm impressed!
One thing I do know about you is that once you have set your mind to it, you can do it.

Tim,
1. Yes
2. No
3. Yes
4. Maybe
5. Yes and Yes!
I appreciate everyone's advice! I will lash myself to my bed and stay away from the computer until this passes, and will awaken a new man.

Not so fast there, kiddo. Seeing as you play mandolin, have you ever tried tenor banjo in Irish tuning? (mandolin tuning) It's really cool and fixes the "shall I play mando or banjo?" problem. I picked up a sweet deal on one- a Kay I won for $20. It needed work,& as I love fixing up old inexpensive instruments,I replaced the nut, armrest, and put new tuners in. Great for a different sound and blues, bluegrass & olt time tunes sounds great on mine. (a 19 fret) Besides, there's always room for another instrument (just like Jell-o!) So take the leap-money on an instrument is never a bad thing.

The final word will be your wife's, right? You better check in with her. Good luck.

She is an enabler, she encourages me to do it.
