After several listens to OldWoodChucks "RocketScienceBanjo" and careful observation, I am happy to report that my quest for the "Holy Cluck" has almost officially ended. Now if only I could TURN IT OFF!! Right now its "Here a cluck, there a cluck everywhere a cluck CLUCK!! Oh my gosh I cant stop clucking on this banjo!! Now I need to figure out how to control it and add it into the music with some syncopation. So I am going to enjoy clucking away on my banjo and hopefully get it under control soon. I am like a kid that just discovered a new toy. Its still not perfectly clear all the time.. ( gotta hit right at the 19th fret like Tony says for those raunchy cannonball style harmonics ) but it will come!! all in due time!!
I have also noticed a few other nuances that just seem to be "happening" In the past I tried playing with my thumb slightly cocked but couldnt get it. lately I have been trying to mentally think "right hand relax" because I remembered something Mike Iverson said about tension being the enemy. Since then I have angled my wrist a bit more and my thumb has relaxed and is cocking downward a bit hitting the 5th string and it just feels better and I like the sound..it seems more directed.
