I have not been around as much as I would like to be lately and here is why. It has been hard to surf the site with as much banjo hunger as I have had.
Most of you may know that I had surgery on my right wrist back in January, the 18th to be exact. I have had nothing but bad luck since then. Second surgery in February to clean up the infection and start basically over with the entire process. Sometimes I thought it was getting better and would pick some and other times was in so much pain, I could hardly move my fingers.
Today I had a 3rd surgery for the same infection. Diptheroid is what the culture showed the infection to be and they place a picc line in my left arm and I will be taking IV antibotics from home twice daily. I am staying strong and positive with my thoughts and just want to get back to doing what I love so, and that is picking banjo and visiting with all my great friends here on the hangout.

WOW DG... had no idea... and did wonder where the heck you've been. Didn't know u injured yer wrist... or had multiple surgeries. That is stinky luck indeed my friend.
Well... let's hope the "peripherally inserted central" line and antibiotic regimen sends them bacteria boot-scootin'... and ya heal up pronto... and get back to pickin' and enjoying life.
All the Best... Ken.

Praying for ya buddy!
I've heard of two other people having follow-up surgeries to clear up infections from the first. Not pretty! One guy had a knee replacement that got infected. They had to remove the artificial knee and pack the cavity with antibiotic stuff for two weeks then re-install the artificial knee. Its hard to grasp how this even happens with modern medical technologies.
Though I don't know you, I pray you get through this with no more surgeries.

Sorry to hear about all this..... I am wondering though, what started all these problems?
Thursday, April 26, 2012 @3:47:06 PM
I was having problems with reoccurring tendonitis in my thumb. I had been getting cortizone shots for about two years, 3 to 4 times yearly. I had a Dr. tell me that this was easily repaired with minor surgery and here I am today. What a mistake I made hey????
Saturday, April 28, 2012 @7:14:01 PM
4th surgery for debridement and irrigation on Monday 4/30. Dr. says he may keep me 3 to 5 days in the hospital to get a jump on the infection. Not sure when this nigtmare will be over. I am lucky though because I am married to a wonderful woman that is taking great care of me and I have many of you keep watch over me as well. Thanks to you all.
