I'm not sure if this is really blog worthy, but I just wanted to "journal" that I had a great practice tonight. I've been working on 'Cripple Creek' for a little over a week now, and I know most of it by heart (just a very basic version), but considering how slowly I have to play it at this point in the game, it just doesn't sound right. I've been working on playing it slowly, and for the last few practices, I haven't felt like I'm making any progress. Well, tonight I had a "breakthrough" and jumped from 60 to 72 bpm! :-) I concentrated on just relaxing my hands, not trying to play too loud, and just "going with it", and I really think it helped! Sure, I have a long way to go to get it up to speed, but I'm sure if I keep at it, I'll get it eventually. I just love practices where I feel like I'm really seeing progress though. It just makes me love this banjo playing thing even more. :-) I think that considering I've been playing less than a month, that's not too shabby! :-)

No not to shabby at all Tasha, after a while you'll be flying through it, I find I have to play a song over and over and over, the speed will come, and if you get to frustrated sometimes just put it down and pick it up later, sometimes it makes a difference. Great when you can hear a difference in your playing, so good for you and keep it up. :)
