When do you put lipstick on a pig? When it's a real good pig in the first place. I am dressing up my former camping banjo, the final prototype of my Rocky Mountain pot banjos, and getting her ready to sell. She has a pot made from five layers of 1/2" Baltic birch plywood. The plywood is good stuff but not the prettiest to look at. I have put a facing on the top of walnut, and one on the back of cherry. Other than that, she doesn't really need a lot of work - new strings, filing the fret ends off where the neck has shrunk, some work on the 5th string nut (a brass screw) to fix a buzz, and installing a new Yellowstone head, that's about all. The buyer is giving her to his musician girlfriend as a birthday gift. I'll post before and after pictures when I'm done. She's been one of my favorite banjos to play, and I've learned a lot of tunes on her. But I'm getting too many banjos built to keep them all.

I posted some photos and a discussion on the results. The guy is coming tonight to pick up the banjo.
