After months of scouring the BHO classifieds, searching through pawn shops and eBay I have found 99 % of everything I needed to complete my Gibson banjo project. When i started all this I simply wanted to buy a few parts to put together a banjo that suited my needs, I wanted to build a banjo out of as many original Gibson parts as I could. And most of you know that when Gibson parts become available there is stiff competition and they don't stay on the market long, I tried not to buy new parts but sometimes it has to be done.
Here is what my banjo is made from.
Mid 90's RB4 rim .
AFP Kulesh tone ring RB 12 reissue
Gibson Presto tail piece
Gibson Flange
Mid 90's Gibson tuners
Prucha tension hoop, hooks and nuts,
Wyatt Fawley Style 3 mahogany neck and resonator that I bought used, I was using this neck on my other banjo t while waiting for Arthur Hatfield to get my new neck and resonator finished. This is a nice neck and really works well on this setup.
Steve Davis Cue Stick bridge
GHS JD Crow strings.
I have to say that this banjo sounds REALLY GOOD ! Bright on the highs, and a Great low end growl.
All I need now is the nickel resonator hardware, My search is on,
Maybe I'll start another project ! But for right now, I think i'll go play my RB 4/12/XX LOL!!
