last weekend i went to the palatka bluegrass festival held at the rodeheaver boys ranch
in palatka florida. this is in the north eastern part of the state along the st. johns river.
the boys ranch is a very well run place and the property must be close to 1000 acres. the camping arrea was very nice with room for 500 rvs and plenty of room for dry camping. i had plenty of choices for different jams after the stage performances were over for the night. most nites i played till almost 2am . Before the stage acts started at noon there was always someone jamming in the mornings also.
the bands that played were little roy and lizzy, larry stephens w big k who i met and talked to. jesse mcreynolds and family were there, bobby osborne and his boy and band, marty raybon and his band were there and we talked about the old times and picking here in the orlando area where we both are from.
all in all it was a good festival and the weather was mild for this time of year.

Great venue - I usually go but due to some family issues was unable to make it this year. I agree with your comments about the jamming. The first few years Palatka got a reputation for not being very conducive to jamming. I'm not sure why but it is certainly not true now.
