I am amazed how well a deering Boston sounds compared to any banjo.
(guess i just love the sound and characteristic of it, granted that 8000 dollar banjos sound light, crisp, and bright, and perfect but for the price range it is hard to beat)

They do have a special tone, esp. lower notes.

yup, ive read where some one said that you can always pick out the "boston sound" at a parking lot jam
