Lesson With Fiddlin Al, Flip Camera

Posted by MiG-19 on Tuesday, January 3, 2012

Had my regular lesson via Skype with Fiddliin Al yesterday.  I do it at 6:00 a.m. (5:00 a.m. during daylight savings time), as I'm in Okinawa and Al lives in Orlando.  That makes it about 5:00 p.m. at Al's place.  I look forward to my lessons each week.  My one regret following a lesson is that I have to go to work immediately afterwards, and on the day of my lesson, I have to go to a meeting that evening with a certain group of stone cutters I am familiar with, so I don't get a lot of time to work on the song or licks taught that morning.  I have just gotten a Flip video camera (arrived in the mail yesterday) and plan to record my next lesson in hopes that I will be able to see the things we worked on instead of relying on my memory.  Still batting 1000 for practicing every day this year!

Jay, I have been wanting to do the same with Al's lessons, let me know how it works out please. I have finally moved away from Milton and now live Lincolnton NC, about 15 miles from where Earl was born and his relatives still live. Keep in touch, thanks, Garman.
