I contacted some dear friends that I hadn't seen in a couple yrs and asked if I could come over and play some music with them. They are a younger married couple that are musically quite talented and they just welcomed me into their home for an overnight stay. They arranged a super jam session on short notice and though we hadn't touched base in a couple yrs,it was just like we picked yesterday.......
I also brought along my 6 yr old grandson, who's very interested in the mandolin, and he and their 7 yr old daughter seemed to hit it off quite well. Perhaps we helped light the fuse for another generation of bluegrass musicians.
I've been blessed to make many great friends over the last 24 yrs of banjo playing, but these are some of the best !

On the way home from the pickin,Isaac kept asking me to play track 5(I think) from the Clay Hess album that he brought along. That's his favorite song,"Travelin down the blue road". It's a good song, but I got tired of hearing it every hour.So.........I thought to myself,I'm gonna fix this......
I played the song 19 times in a row,and he was singin along the last time just as much as the first time.I finally gave up......I guess he just isn't gonna get tired of that song..........but I sure am...........haha.
