My band played a "casual" house party gig this weekend and I had an interesting experience with my banjo.
We played, about 4 or 5 songs when all of a sudden my first string breaks. I usually carry a spare set in my case but for some reason, I had neglected to pack a new set recently. So I was getting ready to put my banjo away and just pick up a friend's guitar, when all of a sudden the host of the party (who I had just met), says "No worries..., I've got a banjo downstairs".
And sure enough. he comes up with this banjo case. I think it was a Montana brand or something like that, So I pulled it out and tuned it as best I could and tried to play with it. But it was tough. The head was really loose and the strings were buzzing probably because the head was really loose. Then to make things more complicated, the 4th string kept popping out of it's bridge slot. So I eventually just left it there and kept playing it that way.
I definitely felt handicapped w/o my Huber, but people still seemed to enjoy themselves. I guess I was almost getting comfortable with the new jo by the end of the night.

Thx Dave, wish that was the case. I think the party noise was able to cover most of my mistakes.

I talked to the guy about tightening the head but we didn't get around to it at the party. I may stop by at a later point and help him out with it
