Yep, happy to say that my practicing is paying off. I got the Ross Nickerson DVD 'banjo jamming' and it is great fun to play along with. At the moment i am working on the first three songs in it at the slow and medium speed. 'Blackberry Blossom' is a beautiful piece and i think it actually sounds best when played at the slow speed. However, for practice sake i will also learn to play it at the faster speeds.
Working on chords, getting the four finger shapes down nicely and playing different combos up to the 12th fret. After 12 my banjo doesn't sound any good. I think this is where a high quality instrument comes into its own.
