Wow, what a fun year. Wintergrass in Seattle, SPBGMA in Nashville, Merlefest in North Carolina, and several Minnesota festivals. Traveling with Tom Nechville; staying with Dogwood Dave Schenck in Cleveland Tennessee, Tim and Danny Carter in Ed "Bastertone" Rampen in Toronto, Al Price in Seattle; picking and singing around the country. Plus I got to hunt and fish whenever the weather was perfect. I can stay up late and sleep in if I want. The coolest thing though is that I learned to build guitars with my friend --and master luthier-- Lloyd LaPlant. I'm finishing my 5th D-model-a herringbone black walnut - and am starting a 00-14 fret model. It is so cool to start with a bunch of wood and magically one day have an instrument in my hands. What a thrill it was to string up that first one and hear its voice. I've got a shop set up and I'm enjoying the heck out of it. I'm looking forward to the next year and more fun times.

Hey Richard...sorry I'm slow on getting back to BHO. Yup, Lloyd is in Grand Rapids. He's 82 years old and still making about 5 guitars and 5 mandolins each year. World class instruments.
