Eddie: Just save up for a decent banjo. Also, do your serious practicing somewhere besides in that truck tab. I sense you are discouraged at this point. I can tell by reading your previous posts that you are an interesting guy. Please do not leave yoyr friends at BHO and the world at large.

I can't afford to! This was a present from my mom for my bday. I want to play, but am thru with trying to fix all the crap that is wrong with a BRAND NEW banjo. Bought from a music mega store. There is a warranty, but I don't want them touching it if this much was wrong with it. And found out that some mechanic for some unknown reason took all my piks? WTF?

Hi Eddie, Frustration come along with learning how to play the banjo. Just the other night I said I quit and guess what. I am pickin again. If you are ever in Northern Calif. give me a shout and I will give you a banjo that I have had for awhile. Its not the best banjo but a good one for learning. It is a Fender FB54. Some people tinker with there banjos so much and don't learn how to play because all they do is tinker with the damn thing. I was taught to just learn how to pick and not worry about all luthier stuff. Kenny Ingram taught me this and I listened to him. Anyway if you are in Northern Calif. then give me a shout. If the weathers good I'll take you fishing.

Thank u oscar. I probly just need to quit messing with it. But when strings come out from under tailpiece when ur trying to play and ewhen u plant ur fingers on head and it feels like a pillow, somethings wrong. I m caonstantly having to loosen strings to get em back under tail just to keep trying to practice. And nuts holding head were barely finger tight. I guess I am reading too much into the setup, but when stuff keeps going wrong, it gets very frustrating
