. i think its time to get serious with this banjo thing the more i play the more i want to play but im kinda stuck at only a few songs i know that with practice that i pick up a tune or 2 but its the taking time to get it right that gets in the way of wanting to pick up the banjo and play so fast the strings melt . i am patient with my practicing but when will it be time to play without thinking a whole lot about finger placement and just gettin down with no stops in between which i heard was a bad habit to get into. the tableture is cool and all but its time to do it right. any advice from anyone out there

Yes, don't get in any hurry to play fast -- trying to play too fast too soon will make you a sloppy banjo player. Work on timing, tone and technique and speed will come when it's ready.
