Hey I hope ya'll got to watch that show tonight on PBS narrated by banjo player Steve Martin. It was a history of banjo music in the US since the 1800's and featured some terrific film clips and interviews as well as awesome music. You can probably catch it at PBS.org/arts. Worth a look. My practice is going great and i'm trying to do up to 2 hours a day. The first hour is spent doing rolls (all of them, forward, reverse, mixed, reverse/forward). I'm getting pretty good at them now using an online metronome which i set at 200 bpm. I also am using C, D7 chords with these rolls along with the open G. I throw in a barred D at 7th fret and barred C at 5th for a bit of variety. All in all, i'm reasonably happy with progress so far. Doing slides, hammer-ons, pull-offs on Cripple Creek and learning Mountain Dew. Having lots of fun. :)

Wow! you're seriously getting in 2 hours a day? I soooo dream of that. Hell, I'd just like to get that much sleep. But, I have to admit that since I used the fingerpicks for the first time last night, I may very well sneak out of work early tomorrow to get some playing in.
