I still have my banjo in pieces on my office table. Desert Rose hooked me up with a new head, picks, and strings, but my tension ring is too big by about 5mm (about 1/3 inch). That is what caused the old head to bread from the metal ring.
I am thinking of taking it to a machine shop, and chopping out about a half inch and welding it back together.

Wouldn't taking it to a shop, and chopping out a piece, and then welding it back affect the sound? I was just wonderin. Keep us informed, ok?
