I left St. Pete early Thursday morning in time to arrive at Banjo.com in Marietta Ga. when they opened. Mark relieved me of my Gold Star and proceeded to perform magic on it. I thought it sounded great before, but he brought it up to a whole new level! Meanwhile, Hayden let me play on the company wares (which are considerable), then got me involved in an impromptu jam session in which I completely embarassed myself. Gary Sobee wandered in and things really got moving! That's a great group at Banjo.com and if you ever need their services you won't be disappointed. (Yes Jeff, I'm still waiting on the Red Fox)! After spending most of the day (and some of my money) there, I left for Louisville and the meet.
I arrived at First Quality Music a couple of hours early and Jeff Sullivan gave me the VIP tour. They are making a first rate professional banjo at a very reasonable price. I got to play on all of their inventory and I can honestly say that there was not a bad one in the bunch. All I need is few (for me a lot) of extra bucks. Guess who picked up a custom made one? (no fair if you were there)!.
The meet itself was fantastic! (See some pics on my photos). It was great to place faces with comments/handles. Meeting new folks was fun, and the picking was banjo heaven. I think everyone there (from beginner to pro) showed me something on the instrument I didn't know. Now if I can just retain a little of it! Sam showed me some of his Tranjos. What a neat idea, very playable and fairly priced.
My hat is off to the Sullivan Banjo Company. They put on a first rate event. All of the staff were very nice and customer oriented. It was worth the 1000 miles I drove for it, and I can't wait for the next one!

Everything was first rate! It was great meeting everyone. I wish I'd gotten there earlier.
