Athen's Old Time Fiddler's Convention

Posted by alabanjobelle on Sunday, October 9, 2011

Had a great weekend at the Fiddler's convention in Athen's Alabama.  So glad that the younger generation is continuing to take up the skills of banjo picking.  I saw some mighty fine pickers this weekend!

The younger generation just impress me so much as to the ease they learn the banjo, and so very fast too. Im sure good pickers there Patti cause you were there right.....;)

Yes, I was there, I have a little ribbon for competing when I was about 12. I think I weighed 55 lbs at that age and my banjo weighed about 13! I used to easily play top speed with earl on those vinyls, but now, my fingers just don't want to go so fast!

I enjoyed your playing Patti - It was good to meet you and catch up with Mike after all these years! Hope to hear you guys again at some point.
