I had a great cruise to Portland, Bar Harbor, St. John, and Halifax. In Halifax, I did a pub crawl that featured a trio (Alistar MacDonald, fiddle, guitar & bass) and was quite impressed with their selections of original material and fiddle tunes. I visited the Music Emporium in Boston which had a selection of Bluegrass Instruments. I was impressed with a Gold Tone banjo that was light, looked well made, and fairly inexpensive. It looked like a good travel / practice banjo to me.
I'm saving my pennies for a Stelling Red Fox. I haven't played on one yet, but I really like the inlay work. I hope the sound matches the craftmanship.
I hope to meet some of my hangout friends at the "meet" in Louisville, October. See you then!

DISASTER!!! The head on my Goldstar cracked, and is only held on by the peghead overlay veneer. I'm really bumed. I guess it can be fixed, but still...

Re-glue it. I repaired a broken fingerboard that I broke before gluing it to the neck, and it went back together just fine.
