End of week two. I am now the proud owner of 4 new calluses. Although the one on my pinky is sort of rudimentary. I am finding it hard not to be impatient but I have caught myself twice this week doing things incorrectly (bad form/technique) just to try and make things clean and fast. I want to go fast like a 16 year old out with a new license and Dad's car for the first time. I guess I get another stab at learning patience...
Thunderstorms are adding some good bottom end to the practice session. Hope the neighborhood doesn't wash away. The river is higher than I've ever seen it, way up over the banks and the rescue folks are staying busy with the fast water rescues. 3 more days of this and the city will probably slide a ways east into the Potomac....
One other thing I am having trouble with is most everyone says to start out with the neck in the webbing between the thumb and the palm. I just can't do that. I keep having to get it up on the ball of my thumb to get all the notes of the IV chord to sound cleanly. Otherwise my fingers lock down flat and i inadvertently damp a string.
