I have a brand new Recording King Elite 75 Banjo, sounds great but I noticed the armrest has a smudge worn look after resting my arm there for a while. What's it made of (nickel plated?) Is there anything to use to clean it? I know this is petty but I was just curious.

Hey, my skin reacts to nickel really bad as well. I have a three pack of polish cloths I bought from Deerings web site. One of them is for tarnish, and you have to rub for about 10 mins (it's a pain) but it'll eventually shine up again. Then I hit it with the polish cloth. (The other cloth in the pack is for the wood)
It's a lot of work so I've pretty much gave up on doing it anymore. I think I'm going to either buy a wood or Cobalt arm rest (won't react) or a plastic cover for the arm rest. I guess winter is coming so I could shine it one more time and wear a long sleeve shirt when I play.
Keith.

Try to order some OZ polish. You can use it for everything on your banjo, wood, metel and it is wonderful.

To prevent nickle rash cover the arm rest in nail varnish.

Okay For us slow learners....by nail varnish, do you mean nail polish? Or, is there a type of fingernail polish that they call varnish? Or, is this some kind of varnish you put on wood? Come on man, don't leave me hanging here.... I'm need a cheap fix :-)

Nail varnish and polish I belive are the same. Essentially it is a clear lacquer.
