I own a Vega Tubaphone made in the late 20's. Yes it has a "modern" neck on it.
To me this is the "Holy Grail" of open back banjos. I have played newer brands but nothing
else comes close in comparison. The sound is just where I want it. Anybody got an opinion as
to what I could replace it with if it is ever lost or stolen.

The same thing, as there are plenty of 20's Vega tubbies and Whyte Laydies around with "modern" necks that come up for sale in the BHO classifieds.

HOPE yer right Bill... i ordered a custom from Colin Vance: maple with a tubaphone ring! She should be finished in a week er two... can't wait!
