Take it with ya. If you want to play it you will have it. If not, just bring it back home. I know what you mean about that addiction, but so does Joe, Oscar, Jim, Don and alll other members of this site. We are all supportive of each others habit, but after all there are worse vises than this. Good Luck Don and most of all have just have fun.

If it's too loud and you get complaints, stuff a towel in the resonator or put some foam between the bridge and the back side of the strings (tailpiece side). If you have a couple of clothespins, you can put one on either side of the bridge, touching the head and that will dampen the sound some. Or you could spend some money and get a mute -- but why when there are free ways to mute the sound.

One caveat: if you leave the banjo in the motel room, leave a "do not disturb" sign on the door. Cleaning people coming in and out might leave the room open and you might lose your banjo.

You gotta take it with you! What if the guy across the hall is a fiddle player? You never know.

So what if you offend someone. They will like it or you will play louder.
If you are really concerned, go online and get a banjo mute. It slides over your bridge and dampens the sound.
