How do you folks ship overseas with high insurance. Best and cheapest - any suggestions?

I shipped a banjo to Western Canada from Michigan. Used USPS (insured) and it wasn't cheap or quick, but it got there safely. I think it was about $60.00. I made sure to pack it really well.
