I was talking to a friend of mine about my youtube banjo lessons.... not being as useful as I thought it would be. And she said to me... then you have to go to the States for a while and learn the real thing... being there. And I thought... why not? Maybe I can live there for a couple of months.... work somewhere to make some money and pay for rent and food... and learn... yeah... why not?
But the thing is... I don't know anyone living there and I don't know if there's anyone who would teach me. Are there any schools or clubs or groups that I can contact? I've never done something like this before in a foreign country.. so I am a little lost here....
Any ideas?
Thanks!
Valentina.

Valentina, glad to see your trying to learn the banjo. I would suggest trying to use Skype to learn the banjo. By using a camera connected to the internet you can receive live face to face video to learn from an instructor, try fiddlin-al.com/. He has students all over the world. I highly recommend him.

I'd go with garman's reccomendation for Skype as well. I've heard good things about fiddlin-al too. If you really want to make an adventure out of it, I'd reccommend going somewhere near Nashville and do it while there's some nearby festivals that you could attend...
