I grew up in the folk era. By the time I started playing that music was dated and the pop culture moved on. After getting out of the service I made a meager living playing guitar with songs from Paxton, Ochs, Dylan, etc. around town in the local pubs. I worked with another doing duos for a couple of years. The Christmas of 76 found a banjo under the tree, and it wasn't long before we worked that into the show. A bass player came along and that really started the mess. When our guitarist left the bass player picked up the mandolin, taught his girlfriend how to play bass, and we picked up a bluegrass guitar player.
That started the "Whiskey Before Breakfast Band". Of course, I had to learn to play the song, and for my first Hangout upload I've posted my version of the song. We eventually got on the Florida Bluegrass Festival circuit and was gently nudged (by the promoters) to change our name. We changed it to Barnstorm, but that's another story.
Take a listen to WBB and let me know what you think.
