Found Dobson Victor Professional

Posted by frianm on Wednesday, July 20, 2011

I was at the post office this morning mailing parts to friends and there was an antique buddy and he asked me about old banjos.  The end result is that I now own a Dobson Victor Professional.  It needs a new fingerboard and I will search out an HO member who might take this on.  I have all the original inlays but these are in a box in parts as the fingerboard has come unglued in parts.  Someone has fitted an old Kroll type tuner for the fifth string, the original friction tuners are there in the headstock.  There is a nice ebony overlay that Vs into the neck on the back.  The tp is a junky modern one that will be replaced - probably with a cam NoKnot from Elderly of one of Bill Rickard.  The 11 inch pot is 32 bracket with a nice engraved grooved tension hoop brass hooks (plated) and all the hooks and nuts are there.

This one will be a keeper when I can get it restored.  Any recommendations as I go forward as to who  might like to take this on?

Thanks for the suggestion - understand he may be too busy. I love his work.
