My Mel Bay DVD

Posted by Gordy Ohliger on Monday, July 11, 2011

Hello & Howdy Folks ~
I'm not much of a computer-bloggy- guy...this is my first try at posting blah-blah.

For the last few months I've been  workin' on the final edit of a banjo DVD and it takes all of my sittin' in a chair time. It's laid out with a short concert, a visit to my personal stash of vintage banjos, a few extra songs, a tonal comparison of 19th century banjos, and a behind-the-scenes segment.     Thank Gawd I have my banjo outta the case and to my immediate right for a few moments of relief.

This projects been in production for a year and seven months and is both grueling and exciting! I must admit though, that I've got some killer stuff in there and I'm damn proud of it.

A slight taste of my style can be seen on YouTube.... Depending on final edit, this HD video will contain; 1920's hot jazz, 1830's gourd banjo, vaudeville banjo-lele, a mando-banjo ballad,  comedy minstrel ragtime, Gordy-style bluegrass pickin' and my original stuff.

It will be available in September through Mel Bay Publications and my web-site.

Well...back to it...I'm still workin' on song copyrights.         ~ Gordy
