I've got big news! I'll be spending the next several months writing "Banjo for Dummies" for Wiley Publishing. That's right - that's the yellow and black book folks. I've been working on landing this project for 18 months and it's finally come through. I plan on including not only sections on bluegrass and clawhammer styles but also short sections on minstrel and classic styles as well as information on melodic and single string approaches.
This will all be within the "Dummies" format - humorous, with lots of photos and cartoons in front of each chapter. This 360 page book will also be accompanied by either a CD or possibly a DVD.
I'm very excited about this project - after all, isn't a "Dummies" book a natural for banjo players? Actually, part of my agenda will be proving that we're *smarter* than the average prospective musician.
All the best,

I like to look at it this way...you need to write "Banjo for Dummies" because all the smart people already know how to play! :-)

Terrific, Bill. Just be sure to use big print and short words. :-)
