Check out some Youtube videos of beginning lessons (unless you already have an instructor). Have fun and stay in contact with the HO members.

can somebody recommend youtube beginner videos? My teacher is amazing, but I dont have enough money to take lessons every week...
I started with Foggy Mountain Breakdown on youtube - too soon, I know - and gave up.
I play guitar, so some things are easier for me. Some are not. The 5th strings driving me crazy...

I'm not really up on the you-tube videos but I've heard really good things about the "Murphy Method" books and DVD's. May be worth the investment!! Don't let that 5th string bother you, soon it will be your best ally....never changing-always there...LOL

Its going pretty well. I like to practice switching cords & at the same time do rolls constantly. How about you? What state do u live in? I'm just curious...

Hey DoubleDang :)
I live in Berlin/Germany, but moving to London soon. Not really the banjo countries, huh?
Yeah... I practice the same way. It just gets boring after a while, and Im craving to learn a song! So I thought Im very clever, taking a song I know on the guitar, and learn the banjo chords. Oh dear... it takes ages... My fingers just want to do the guitar chords...! But I dont give up :) Patience is not one of my talents tho... ;)

Thats a certain the Guitar chords sound awful on a banjo, i do this after switching from one to the next..lol...There are so amy ways to get around with chords on a banjo kneck, if I were better my fender guitar would sit and get dusty......It's a constant work in process...hows things going for you?

I am in the process of learning my 7th song clawhammer banjo from my teacher which is listed on here. Chuck Levy. Best teacher, hands down.
