hello old friend

Posted by banjoclara on Monday, April 25, 2011

When life gets in the way, just wait it out.  Your old banjo will be there waiting for you.  Then back at it.  I think I can. I think I can.   I want to be able to say I'm a banjo player!!

I've found that due to life's pendulum, sometimes I'm a banjo player, and sometimes not so much. But you're right -- it'll swing back, the stars will realign, school will be out and pickin' time will present itself. Have fun with it!

I put my banjo down for about a year. When I picked it back up, I reckin I didn't sound much worse than I did before...LOL

You make plans and then the way it turns out is called "Life". Prioritize and do what at the top first.

Right, life is like that. And I AM a good prioritizer. PS also delighted to say my fingertips are sore again.

Earlier this week I sat down to play the banjo and life happened: I got a call telling me that my brother had been injured at work and flown to the hospital. He will be okay after surgery and three months of recovery and rehab. That is a fairly dramatic example, but my point is simply this: Priorities change and the banjo does not win often enough!

Clara, I also started just before I turned 50 and I am having a ball!

Glad to hear your brother is going to be okay--sorry to hear about his injury!! My LIFE was my mom, she will be 80 in June and she gave me a scare. Her back was hurting so bad she'd cry and it took me 30 minutes just to get her to the car. So a lot of MRI's and xrays and so on. It hurt to see her hurting so bad, but praise God for cortisone shots!! She is able to walk and even drive again, and I am back to sore fingers again. You know what? I was visiting my mom yesterday and she said - did you know your grandma Larkin played the banjo? Gee whiz Mom! I did NOT know that and I wanted hear all about it!! How about that? My mom's mom was a banjo player too! Here's to you Baltia Larkin!! I hope you are looking down on me and smiling now.
