New adventures

Posted by chuckles50 on Wednesday, February 23, 2011

This summer I've decided to go to the British Columbia Bluegrass Workshop in the Rocky Mountains of Canada. Been thinking about it for a couple of years and finally decided to get off my hiney and do it. I'm all booked and approved and will be there the last week of August. Even my tone deaf life's partner is coming. It was her persistance that sealed the deal. While I'm off at workshops and seminars, she'll be flitting about with her camera, enjoying all the activities from a non player POV. She continues to support my musical endeavors after 25 plus years.

I also had my first ever banjo lesson a week ago. I have much to do to improve my tone and technique, but I'm up to the challenge. Chris Quinn of the Foggy Hogtown Boys in Toronto has extreme patience, kindness and understanding and is just a great teacher and mentor. I managed to develop the odd bad habit in 5 years playing strictly on my own. How humbling! I persevere.

Hi Chuck, It sounds as if Chris is going to straighten your Hiney out. Congratulations on the trip to the Columbia Bluegrass Workshop. That should be a hoot.
