Does anyone know where I can find nylon banjo strings? I'm on the west coast of Canada but I'm assuming i can order them online somewhere.

Elderly Instruments has quite a few. You can also try Janet Davis Music. I've bought nylon strings from both. BTW, if you didn't know, nylon strings are very inexpensive, usually less than $4.00 a set. I pay more than twice as much as that for a single violin string.

There are people who use nylon fishing line for strings. I keep forgetting the line tests required to make up a set. There are people on BHO who know, because I've asked and forgotten the answer. Once you buy the spools, you're set for life!

I use Chris Sands Classical Banjo Strings from England. I get them at Elderly here in the states, but I would assume they are available in Canada too. I use the Heavies for a banjo I tune 3 frets below standard (eBEG#E). I used to use mediums and kept it at concert gDGBD pitch. Best Nylon strings I have ever used but I haven't tried Saverez yet.

Hi Josh, you might find them in BC somewhere that you can order online, but I'm in Ontario, and I have found the best place to order strings from is They are in the U.S. but I have not been able to buy any strings around here anywhere that I like. Also the prices are really good. I don't play nylon so I don't know about prices on them, but steel banjo sets cost about 2-3 times as much here as I can order them from Elderly. Even with the shipping, its still a better deal, and I can get the strings I want, and not have to settle for the one brand that they seem to carry around here.
