Paul's Impeccible Hats

Posted by Don Borchelt on Wednesday, January 26, 2011

Now BHO friends, we all know that Paul Roberts is a wonderful banjo picker. Our resident mountain guru from Pagosa Springs plays some of the most elegant, quintessential banjo to be found here on the Hangout, whether it be on plectrum or five string, cello banjo or otherwise. He gets more touch, taste and tone out of that deep throated cello banjo of his than any other like-minded picker on the planet. If you don't believe me (though I trust you do), just visit his music and video pages below, and hear for yourself what a real banjo sensei sounds like.

Some of you might not know of Paul's talents as a sound engineer, but he is justifiably proud of that skill set also, which is why there are so many videos of Adam Hurt on Paul's video page, pushing Paul's own videos to the bottom. But after you've watch Adam's wonderful picking, watch Paul's videos, too; you will absolutely be astounded.

But having said all of that, what really sets Paul apart from the rest of us with our run-of-the-mill "I Love Banjo" captioned trucker's hats is his incredible fashion sense in all things millinery, with his unparalleled collection of chapeaus. Paul with his assemblage sets as high a standard for headgear as Imelda Marcos established for footwear. Below are what I am sure are just a few samples from Paul's extensive accumulation of lids. A collection like this just has to be properly documented:

Keep 'em coming, Paul, and stay banjo crazy. If the rest of us have just half of a measure of this man's love of life, we will live to be a hundred.
